In our thoughts / Nice to know

Recently, I had a conversation with a board member who thought it would be a good idea to designate a place on our website where community news could be displayed.  Because most of the "good" news (for example, the recent births in our community) and occasional "bad" news (like Jack Shanfield's passing) makes it to the "Front Page", we needed to find somewhere to place snippets that would linger for a while, without distracting from the ongoing front page articles related to our Judaism.

As a result of that conversation, I've introduced "In our thoughts" and "Nice to know" sections, appearing on the right side of the screen.  Our goal will be to post short, one or two sentence summaries of occasions or events related to our congregants.  These snippets will typically be displayed for a week or two before they eventually disappear from view.

Please let me know what you think of this idea, and whether you know of any way it could be improved.

It's a boy - an update

No, we're not trying to confuse you.  Congratulations to Aharon and Ilana Kagan, proud parents of their new son.  Born yesterday, I haven't gotten any details yet on the condition of mother and baby.  Thanks to Dana Horwitz for informing me of this blessed event.

Monday at 5:00PM, Aharon and Ilana will be having the baby's bris and naming at the synagogue.

Update:

The baby's name is Itzhak Meyir.  Mazel tov!

It's a girl - an update

Last Shabbat, the Horwitz family formally introduced us to their new baby girl, naming her:  Talya Ava Naomi.  Mazel tov again from the entire community.
